It's been 33 years.......GROW UP!!

Greetings, Time for a rant....... On the 23rd I traveled up to NE Iowa for a steam power show.  My cousins were there & also an aunt & uncle who have held a vendetta against me for 33 years. 33 years!!!  This is beyond ridiculous!! Let me give you the background on this vendetta. I was about 12 years old & my aunt, uncle & their 3 boys came down to my grandmothers house for the day.  I was already dreading this visit as I knew the bullying would start as soon as they walked in the door. As soon as one cousin walked into the living room, he flipped me out of my bean bag chair & flipped the TV from the Olympics I was watching to his game that he needed to watch. The other cousins just laughed.  I went upstairs to my room.  My uncle came upstairs & literally dragged me down the stairs telling me "you need to be sociable & not selfish." I sat down on the couch & started crying from the pain that he had caused.  My...

Happy National Lighthouse day!

Happy National Lighthouse Day! What.......you've never heard of it?   I'm not surprised. Aug. 7th, 1789 - Congress approved an act to support the building, maintenance & support for lighthouses around the country. Many lighthouse people celebrate this day even tho its not recognized nationally. These beacons led ships to safe ports & warned them of dangers of impending rocks & shoals. Do you have a love of lighthouses?  There is a magazine for you. Lighthouse Digest Magazine Here are 2 of my favorites - This is the one I visit every fall when its lit on Nov. 10th. Learn the history behind these magnificent beacons.  Its an interesting story. Later, L http://www.lighthousefoundation.org/museum/natllighthouseday_info.htm

A bit about me

Hello! First off, let me tell you a little bit about myself.   I'm a mom & a grandmother.  I'm also a recent college graduate.   Oh.....one more thing......I'm very outspoken. Growing up, I was told to be quiet.....a lot.   My grandparents told me that children should be seen & not heard.  The woman who called herself my mother rarely had time for me.  My dad died at a young age.  My uncle shushed me constantly when I was trying to explain things to him. I was in a shell until I turned 16.   I slowly came out.   Once I graduated from high school, I started teaching. Once I became a mom, I became more outspoken.  As the years have passed, I've become more outspoken. I've offended some people with how up front I am.  I don't hold any punches.  If you don't like what I say, then you know where the door is or in this case, close the tab or window. So, the opinions & 2 cents will start soon. Later, L
